WHAT'S INCLUDED
Everything you need to feel ready
Antenatal classes, but just for you. No church hall, no circle of strangers, no waiting your turn to ask the thing you have been wondering about for weeks. If you want to spend an hour on pain relief because it is the thing keeping you awake, we spend an hour on pain relief.

Who this is for
Is this option right for you?
For families who want to feel genuinely prepared, and would rather do that somewhere comfortable than in a room full of strangers.
First time parents
Everything is new, and no question is too small. This is the space to ask all of them.
Second or third time round
A different baby, a different birth. Useful if last time did not go as you hoped, or if it has been a few years.
Anyone whose plans have changed
A planned caesarean, a VBAC, or a pregnancy that has become more complex. We cover what is actually relevant to you.
Partners who want to help
Most antenatal teaching is aimed at the pregnant person. Your partner leaves this knowing what to do, not just what is happening.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Care
Everything you need to know about independent midwifery care.
How is this different from NHS antenatal classes?
NHS classes are free, usually in a group, and often condensed into one or two sessions covering a lot of ground quickly. They are genuinely useful and I would never tell anyone not to go. What I offer is six hours instead of a couple, in your own home, shaped entirely around what you want to know. If you have a specific worry, we can spend as long as it takes on it. If something does not apply to you, we skip it.
When should we book?
Most families do the sessions somewhere between 28 and 36 weeks, when birth feels close enough to be real but there is still time to absorb it. Earlier is fine if you would rather not leave it late, and so is later. Book whenever suits you and we will find dates.
How far apart are the sessions?
Usually a week or two, though it is entirely up to you. Some families prefer them close together, others like time to think between.
Who can be there?
Your birth partner, and anyone else you would like. Your mum, your sister, a friend who will be supporting you. It is your front room.
What if I go into labour before we finish?
Then congratulations, and we will pick up the remaining session afterwards if you would still like it. Session three is about feeding, recovery and the early days, so it is often more useful with a baby in your arms anyway.
I am planning a caesarean. Is this still relevant?
Yes. We cover what is actually happening for you, including what to expect from a planned caesarean, recovery afterwards, and feeding. Nothing here assumes one kind of birth.
I am not planning to breastfeed. Will session three still be useful?
Yes. We cover feeding however you plan to do it, whether that is breast, bottle or a mix. Your recovery, your baby’s behaviour and the early days are the same either way.
Do I get anything to keep?
Yes. Each session comes with a printed handout pack, over thirty pages in total, written by me. They are not leaflets. They are the thing families tell me stayed on the kitchen table for months.
Which areas do you cover?
An approximate 20-mile radius from Skipton, North Yorkshire, including Skipton, Ilkley, Otley, Grassington, Settle, Burnley, Clitheroe, Harrogate, Pateley Bridge, Halifax, Keighley, Bradford and North Leeds. If you are just outside, please get in touch as I may still be able to come to you.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Please get in touch and we can sort something that works.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. I am fully insured to provide antenatal and postnatal care through the Royal College of Nursing, and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, which requires revalidation every three years.
